StarFlyer ran a STAR TRIP coupon sale on its official dynamic packages, flight plus accommodation, from midnight on 31 July 2026 to 23:54 on 6 August. Five coupons took JPY 5,000 to JPY 15,000 off, on any domestic route, for departures to 31 January 2027.

The code goes in at the payment-method screen during booking. One coupon per booking, and only the lead traveller can use it.

The order by rate matches the order by face value and never crosses over. Add up the allocations, though, and it is three plus three plus ten plus five plus five: twenty-six coupons in all. The JPY 15,000 at 15.0% went to the first three people, and the one actually within reach was the JPY 7,000 with ten available, on a total of JPY 60,000 or more. “Up to JPY 15,000 off” reads more honestly as a ceiling that applied if you assembled a package of JPY 100,000 and took one of three slots.

At the thresholds there are stretches where paying more costs less. A total of JPY 79,000 reaches only the JPY 7,000 coupon, so you pay JPY 72,000; push the total to JPY 80,000 and the JPY 10,000 coupon opens, so you pay JPY 70,000. One thousand yen more on the package takes two thousand off the bill. The same inversion sits at the JPY 100,000 line: a JPY 100,000 package costs JPY 85,000 against JPY 89,000 for a JPY 99,000 one, so the dearer package is JPY 4,000 cheaper. When the choice is whether to move up a grade of room, the boundary is the thing to look at first.

What counts towards the total is the return airfare, the passenger facility charge, the accommodation and the taxes. Costs collected at the property, the accommodation tax among them, do not count, and those vary by municipality — the rates are in the 2026 table. Aiming at a boundary means checking the total on the booking screen itself rather than adding it up beforehand.

Every domestic route qualified, and what StarFlyer flies is Tokyo (Haneda) to Kitakyushu, Fukuoka, Kansai and Yamaguchi Ube, Nagoya (Chubu) to Fukuoka, and Fukuoka to Sendai — so in practice this is Kyushu out of Haneda. The departure window reaching to 31 January 2027 meant one coupon covered both an August trip and a new year visit home. All five were only on the table for a November-to-January departure, though: an August to October departure was limited to the top three. If a quiet-season package lands in the JPY 50,000s, moving the dates to November or later widens the choice rather than narrowing it.
