Malaysia Airlines ran its Summer Holiday Special Campaign on the Narita and Kansai international routes from 7 July to 20 July 2026. The cheapest return was Narita to Cebu at JPY 64,380, a total with the fuel surcharge and taxes already in it, and the fares held for departures all the way to 31 May 2027.

Lowest return totals with the fuel surcharge and taxes included, as published by Malaysia Airlines on 12 July 2026.

What made this round worth the trouble was not the floor price but the length of the travel window. Roughly eleven months sat inside it, from 7 July through to departures on 31 May 2027, which puts Silver Week, the New Year, the graduation-trip season in March and the run-up to the following Golden Week all inside the same fare band. Tickets issued from 1 July 2026 carry the JPY 3,000 international tourist tax; the figures above are quoted as totals including taxes, so it belongs inside them rather than on top, and the payment screen is where to confirm that.

Read down the table and the airline’s own hub turns out to be the expensive destination. Narita to Cebu came in at JPY 64,380 while Narita to Kuala Lumpur, the connecting point, cost JPY 103,820 — nearly forty thousand yen more to stop where everyone else changes planes. If Kuala Lumpur itself was the trip, this was a round to skip. London at JPY 161,310 return was the better outlier: for a European route with the fuel surcharge inside the figure, that sits close to the floor.

A second discount ran underneath the fares. Paying with a Visa card and entering the code MHVISA10 took up to a further 10% off, and that Visa offer held until 31 August 2026. On economy tickets to Malaysia, children aged two to eleven were charged 75% of the adult fare and infants under two without a seat 10%. The catch sits in the fare rules: sale fares carry tighter change and refund conditions than the published ones, so holding dates that are not yet settled hands the saving straight back in fees.

Who it’s forTravellers who can move dates around anywhere inside a year and who want a resort at the end of it. Bali came in at JPY 72,100 from Narita and JPY 69,630 from Kansai, which for a full-service return is close to the floor. It is the wrong buy for anyone whose dates can still be shifted by a meeting or a school calendar: the change fee is larger than the discount.
Already booked?MHVISA10 is entered at purchase, not claimed afterwards, and it expired on 31 August 2026. The 75% child and 10% infant rates applied only to economy tickets to Malaysia, so they do not attach to the Cebu or Bali fares. Before fixing the return leg, check that hotel rates are even published at the far end of the travel window in May 2027 — Klook will show you how far ahead the inventory runs.
Compared with past salesMalaysia Airlines came back in August with the Visit Malaysia 2026 sale, where Tokyo to Denpasar sat in the JPY 72,000s — all but identical to July’s JPY 72,100. This carrier moves the length of the eligible period between rounds rather than the fare itself. For what to do once you land, see the five-night Bali plan and the three-night Kuala Lumpur plan.

Where Kansai beats Narita, and the one destination where it does not

The same destination changes price with the airport you leave from. Bali was JPY 69,630 from Kansai against JPY 72,100 from Narita, a difference of JPY 2,470. Singapore ran JPY 75,600 against JPY 76,830, and London JPY 160,080 against JPY 161,310 — JPY 1,230 in Kansai’s favour in both cases.

Kuala Lumpur inverts it. In economy, Narita was JPY 103,820 against Kansai’s JPY 108,690, so the Tokyo departure was JPY 4,870 cheaper. Move up to business on that same route and the order flips again: Narita JPY 319,170, Kansai JPY 310,540, now JPY 8,630 the other way. Treating “Kansai is cheaper” as a rule and buying a shinkansen ticket to act on it would have cost money on two of these routes. One destination was sold from Narita alone, Cebu, and one from Kansai alone, Krabi at JPY 68,350.
