JAL announced a set of measures on 29 June 2026 to push overseas travel, timed with the travel industry’s Motto! Kaigai e campaign. It is giving 5,700,000 miles to 66 JMB members by draw, and cutting child fares on the Guam route by 55% to mark 55 years of flying it.

5,700,000 miles split between 66 people, and 55% off child fares to Guam

The miles break down as Prize A, 150,000 miles to six people, and Prize B, 80,000 to sixty. Entry goes through a dedicated site, with round one open from 30 June to 30 September 2026 and round two from 1 October to 5 January 2027. Sixty-six winners across two rounds keeps the pool under three figures, which makes the draw the wrong plan for anyone who needs the saving to be certain. It costs nothing to enter, though, and the two rounds are drawn separately, so entering one does not use up the other.

The part that could actually be spent was the Guam discount. Fares for children aged 2 to 11 came down to 45% of the original price, in business class as well as economy. Sales closed on 31 August, so the fare can no longer be bought — only tickets already issued carry it.

The travel period still runs to 24 December.

JAL frames the whole thing as a response to the cut in passport fees that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made on 1 July 2026. By the airline’s own figures, a ten-year passport for an adult applied for at a counter went from JPY 16,300 to JPY 9,300, and online from JPY 15,900 to JPY 8,900 — JPY 7,000 off either way. At JPY 7,000 a head, a family of four is JPY 28,000 better off for crossing that date. Anyone whose passport has less than a year left on it should probably deal with that before choosing where to go. The JPY 400 gap between counter and online survived the cut unchanged.

What is still openRound one of the draw runs until 30 September 2026. A JMB member registered in the Japan region can enter without having any trip planned.
Already booked?Tickets bought under the Kids 55 Guam Discount have to be flown by 24 December. Leaving Japan also carries the international tourist tax, so read the total alongside the rise to JPY 3,000.
Compared with JAL’s other international offersRoute-specific campaigns running at the same time work on the fare instead, such as Honolulu return from JPY 124,600. Unlike a draw, that one is settled the moment you buy.
