Universal Studios Japan ran Universal Summer Matsuri Night: Neon Glow Up, the night event for the summer of its 25th year, from 1 July to 26 August 2026. The Night Pass, which admits you from 17:00, cost JPY 5,300 for adults and JPY 3,400 for children, and was sold for entry dates up to 31 August. The whole after-dark programme was replaced for the season.

The 17:00 Night Pass was JPY 5,300 for adults, JPY 3,300 below a 1 Day Studio Pass

The night programme ran from 18:30 to 21:00. On 3 July and 22 August it finished at 20:00, and on 21 August it did not run at all. A Night Pass gets you through the gate at 17:00, which leaves an hour and a half before anything starts. That is enough for one attraction with a short queue. Aim for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter or Minion Hachamecha Ride in that window and you will still be in the line when the show begins.

The content pushed a summer festival towards a club night. Alongside the main NO LIMIT! Glow Up Oh! Matsuri came Minion BOO-YA Block Party, Glow Up Street Performance, a fireworks segment called Summer Glow Moment, and Oh! Matsuri Food & Game, built around glowing food and stalls. The anniversary theme for the year was “Discover U!!!”.

I would not send anyone here who came for the daytime attractions. Arriving at 17:00 puts the long-queue rides out of reach, and the evening ends up being the shows and nothing else. Closing at 21:00 also makes the journey home hard to plan if you are travelling in for the day from outside Kansai. Staying within walking distance is the easier shape, and five cheap hotels within walking distance of USJ sets out what that costs; rates for the dates you want move a long way between a weekday and the middle of the school holidays.

Who it’s forPeople who can start in the late afternoon and want to miss the heat of a summer day. It does not suit anyone whose target is the daytime attractions, and it does not suit a group with pre-school children who cannot stay until 21:00 — what JPY 5,300 buys in that case is the evening shows and nothing more.
Already booked? There was no event on 21 August, and 3 July and 22 August closed at 20:00. The Night Pass was valid for entry up to 31 August, but the event itself finished on 26 August, so the last five entry dates carried no night programme.
Compared with past salesA 1 Day Studio Pass ran JPY 8,600 to JPY 10,900 as of July 2026, and the Twilight Pass, which admits you from 15:00, JPY 6,000 to JPY 7,600. Going three times makes the Summer Season Pass at JPY 14,500 for adults, also from 15:00, work out at JPY 4,833 a visit — below the Night Pass. For the Tokyo side of the same season, compare the Disney summer crowd forecast.
