Jetstar Japan ran a Super Star Sale from noon on 31 July 2026 to 16:59 on 3 August, across fourteen domestic routes. The floor was JPY 3,790 one way, Narita to Kansai, for travel between 1 September and 23 December, with no fuel surcharge.

One-way fares in economy “Starter”. Each pair was priced the same in both directions, and this round carried no international fares.

The fourteen line up more or less by distance. Narita to Kansai at JPY 3,790, Takamatsu at 4,390, Kochi and Matsuyama in Shikoku at 4,490 and Fukuoka at 4,990 sit almost level with each other; from there it steps up to Asahikawa at 5,090 and to southern Kyushu and Naha at 5,490. The spread from floor to ceiling is JPY 2,200, or 58% above the floor — narrow enough that picking the destination first is the wrong way round. Start from which dates are cheap to fly and the fare does more work.

A Starter fare buys the seat and nothing else. Checked baggage and seat selection are paid extras added at booking, and a JPY 3,790 ticket with a bag and a chosen seat comes to close to twice that. A payment fee applies on top, at a rate that depends on the card. The figures in the table are a floor to build on rather than a price, which is worth holding in mind before comparing them with a fare that includes a bag.

The sale itself lasted three days and five hours. What defined the round was the travel window: 1 September to 23 December misses Obon and the summer holidays entirely, and stops short of the new year. This is pricing to fill seats in the quiet months, which makes it a sale for people who can move their dates rather than people who have already chosen them. The only caveat Jetstar published was one sentence — that sale seats are limited, that some dates and flights carry no sale fare, and that weekends and long weekends may have none — with no list of excluded dates. Finding out which days were out meant working through the booking screen.

Who it’s forAnyone travelling on hand baggage alone who could move dates inside September to December. Narita to Kansai at JPY 3,790 is about 63% of Fukuoka to New Chitose at JPY 5,990, the dearest pair in the same sale. It is the wrong fare for anyone checking a bag or wanting a family seated together: once the options are added, the total lands alongside carriers whose fare already includes the baggage.
Already booked?Travel had to fall between 1 September and 23 December, and there are excluded dates inside that window, so keep the flight number and date you actually hold. For an early departure out of Narita, the night before is the part to settle first — check what a room near the airport costs before the seat locks the date in. Ways to hold the accommodation side down from autumn onwards are in the travel trends piece.
Compared with past salesJetstar ran a sale of the same name from 17 to 21 July, and that round bottomed out at JPY 3,820 on the same Narita–Kansai pair. This one moved the floor by JPY 30. Route by route the changes were larger: Narita to Fukuoka went from 4,490 to 4,990, up 11%, and Narita to New Chitose from 4,290 to 4,590, while Narita to Naha came down from 5,790 to 5,490, about 5% off. Narita to Kagoshima and three international routes dropped out of the list, and Narita to Kochi came in. The difference between rounds is which routes are in, not where the floor sits. How to be ready when the next one opens is in the booking techniques for cheap flights.
