Qatar Airways ran a four-day time sale, taking up to 15% off eligible fares to Europe, the Middle East and Africa from Narita, Haneda and Kansai. Selling ran from 9 July 2026 to 23:59 on 12 July, for travel between 1 September and 15 December. Economy and business were both included, one way and return.

The 15% comes off the base fare, while the surcharge and the taxes stay where they are

What Qatar Airways discounted was the base fare. The fuel surcharge, the taxes and the airport facility charges were not touched and carried through to the total at full value. The longer the route, the larger the share of the payment those items represent, which is why 15% off the fare is never 15% off the amount charged. The rate also varies with the booking class, so the same route on the same date can discount differently from one flight to the next. This was a sale whose real size only appeared on the payment screen.

Flights from Japan connect at Hamad International Airport in Doha. Departures are weighted towards late evening, which leaves the whole of the departure day usable — a structural advantage over a morning long-haul. Connections are typically two to four hours, and a free transit tour is available to passengers who meet the conditions, which makes a deliberately longer layover worth considering. Haneda–Doha was operating daily as of September 2026.

Discounted fares of this kind are usually non-refundable, or carry a steep fee to change the date. The travel window, September to mid-December, straddles the European autumn colours and the quiet weeks before Christmas, so if the dates could still move it is safer to settle the room terms before buying the ticket. Departures from Japan on or after 1 July 2026 also carry the JPY 3,000 international tourist tax. Holding the nights first on Klook or a comparable site keeps the total in view.

Who it’s forAnyone weighing up business class. Because the cut lands on the base fare, the cabin with the larger fare carries the larger saving in cash. At the cheapest end of economy, where surcharge and tax dominate the total, 15% will not produce the number the phrase suggests.
Already booked? Most of these fares are non-refundable or attract a change fee. Your confirmation carries a single-letter booking class, and whether a change is possible is decided by the fare rules attached to that letter. Two passengers on the same route can hold different conditions.
Compared with past salesANA ran its own international time sale in the same month of July 2026, quoting European round trips at JPY 162,000 with the fuel surcharge already inside the figure. Qatar Airways took 15% off the fare component alone. Both are described as cheap, but they are quoting different faces of the same ticket, and only the total at the payment screen puts them on one scale.
