One-way “Starter” fares in Economy. No fuel surcharge is payable, but the payment handling fee and airport charges are extra. On the two international routes, tickets issued from 1 July 2026 also carry the international tourist tax of JPY 3,000.

The domestic list lines up almost exactly with distance. Kansai at JPY 3,820, New Chitose at JPY 4,290, Shikoku at JPY 4,390 and Fukuoka at JPY 4,490 sit within a few hundred yen of each other, and the ladder then climbs through Asahikawa at JPY 5,190 and southern Kyushu to Naha at JPY 5,790. Narita to Naha is close to 1,970 km; there is no shinkansen and no coach on that corridor, so the only thing the figure can be compared against is another airline’s ticket.

The Starter fare carries nothing with it. Checked baggage and seat selection are paid options added during booking, and putting 20 kg and a chosen seat on a JPY 3,820 ticket takes the real total to close to double. A payment handling fee lands on top depending on the card, so the column above reads best as the floor a total is built up from rather than as a price.

Selling lasted four and a half days. The travel window was long — 14 August to 23 December — but excluded dates and flights were set inside it, and each flight loses the sale fare as its allocation goes rather than at the end of the sale. Starting the window on 14 August, the first day of the Obon period, is unusual, and it thinned the allocation noticeably over that first weekend.

Who it’s forTravellers who can go out and back on cabin baggage alone from Narita. Kansai at JPY 3,820 and New Chitose at JPY 4,290 are between a tenth and a fifth of the shinkansen fare on the same corridors. It suits nobody checking a bag or wanting a family seated together: once the options are added, the total lands alongside a rival’s fare that included baggage in the first place.
Already booked? The travel window runs by route inside an overall 14 August to 23 December, and some flights carry excluded dates, so keep the flight number and date of what you bought to hand. Narita’s first departures leave before the trains reach the terminal, so on those days the night before at the airport is part of the fare.
Compared with past salesJetstar reuses this name, and the previous round bottomed out at the same JPY 3,820. The airline holds the floor steady and varies the routes and the travel window from one round to the next. Among regional operators at the same time, Toki Air’s JPY 999 sale went lower still.

Same destination, JPY 1,100 between Narita and a regional departure

Fukuoka cost JPY 4,490 from Narita and JPY 5,090 from Chubu, a difference of JPY 600. New Chitose cost JPY 4,290 from Narita and JPY 5,390 from Kansai, a difference of JPY 1,100. By distance, Chubu to Fukuoka and Kansai to New Chitose are shorter than or similar to their Narita equivalents, and they still cost more, because the headline fares in this round were weighted towards Narita.

Anyone living outside the Kanto area who chases the Narita floor pays for the journey to Narita on top. Travelling from Kansai to Narita to fly to New Chitose buys a ticket JPY 1,100 cheaper than the Kansai departure and adds a return domestic leg to get to it, which does not add up. The two regional routes also run at limited frequencies, so in practice the question was whether those two happened to fit the trip. The international side repeats the pattern: Kaohsiung at JPY 9,990 and Manila at JPY 10,190 from Narita against Manila at JPY 11,390 from Kansai, with Narita JPY 1,200 below.
