The reason to sleep within walking distance of USJ is the walk, not the rate. When the park closes you walk back to the room instead of boarding a train. The hotels’ own sites give about one minute to the park for Hotel Kintetsu Universal City and about twelve for La’gent Hotel Osaka Bay, while The Singulari connects directly to the JR station.

Three hotels in Shimaya 6-chome are official; the two on the Sakurajima side are not

Hotel Kintetsu Universal City, The Singulari and Hotel Universal Port Vita all have addresses in Shimaya 6-chome, Konohana Ward. Kintetsu is a USJ official hotel, about one minute on foot from the park and about two minutes from Universal City station. Check-in is at 15:00 and check-out at 11:00, and the rooms are organised by floor around a colour theme. Vita is also a USJ Official Hotel, opened in July 2018 around a theme of sun and nature. The Singulari connects directly to JR Universal City station, so rain never touches you. Its own site gives about 15 minutes to Shin-Osaka and about 45 to Kyoto.

The Singulari’s centre is the Skyspa on the top floor. Only guests can use it, from 15:00 until 11:00 the next morning, and the sauna is closed from 02:00 to 06:00. The Skyspa has no towels of its own, so you carry one from your room.

The other two are a different proposition. La’gent Hotel Osaka Bay is four minutes from JR Sakurajima station and ten from Universal City station, about twelve minutes on foot from the park. It stands next to Zepp Osaka Bayside, and the hotel lists non-smoking throughout, Wi-Fi throughout and a coin laundry. Liber Hotel Osaka is on the Sakurajima side and is known for its natural hot-spring spa. Neither is on USJ’s partner hotel list.

Rates here move with the day of the week and with whatever is running in the park, so fixing a budget and then hunting for a hotel inside it wastes an evening.
