Scoot, the Singapore low-cost carrier, ran an Everywhere Sale across its Japanese routes. Selling was open for six days, from 7 July 2026 to 23:59 on 12 July, for travel from 21 July to 27 March 2027. The cheapest seat was Kansai to Taipei at JPY 13,900 one way, and that figure already has the taxes in it.

Kansai to Taipei at JPY 13,900 with taxes in, and Narita to Perth at JPY 35,000 via Singapore

The one-way examples published at the announcement were Narita to Taipei Taoyuan at JPY 14,900, Narita to Singapore at JPY 23,900, Kansai to Taipei at JPY 13,900, Kansai to Singapore at JPY 21,900, New Chitose to Taipei at JPY 15,900, and Narita to Perth via Singapore at JPY 35,000. All of them include taxes. Kansai undercuts Narita on Taipei by JPY 1,000, about 7% of the fare. Scoot levies no fuel surcharge, so the distance between the price on the screen and the price on the card is short — the opposite of how a full-service quote reads, and the reason these figures can go straight into a budget. A payment fee may still apply.

What pays for the low fare is everything that is unbundled: checked baggage, meals and seat selection are all extras. Carry-on is normally capped at 10 kg, and going over it means buying an allowance. Comparing the headline against a full-service carrier without adding those back is where the judgement goes wrong. Travelling for three days with hand luggage only, on the other hand, there is almost nothing to add.

Sale fares cannot be refunded after purchase. Dates can be changed, but that costs a fee plus the fare difference. Itineraries running through Singapore to Australia or Southeast Asia include some long connections, so the layover matters as much as the arrival time when choosing between two options. Scoot serves 80 cities across 18 countries and territories, and the breadth of that network is exactly what the Singapore hub buys. Departures from Japan on or after 1 July 2026 also carry the JPY 3,000 international tourist tax. Holding the nights first on Klook keeps the total in view.

Who it’s forA weekend in Taipei, three days with a cabin bag. Kansai to Taipei at JPY 13,900 includes the taxes, so the return still comes in under JPY 30,000. It suits nobody who travels with a large checked bag, or who always buys a seat assignment and a meal: once those go back on, the gap against a full-service ticket narrows considerably.
Already booked? There are no refunds. A date change is possible on payment of a fee and the fare difference, so a trip that falls through is a case for changing rather than cancelling. On an itinerary via Singapore, check the connection time on your confirmation.
Compared with past salesIn the same month of July 2026, ANA’s international time sale put Tokyo–Taipei at JPY 59,800 return with the fuel surcharge inside it. Two Scoot one-ways from Kansai come to JPY 27,800, or 46% of that figure — without a checked bag and without a meal. A comparison between a low-cost and a full-service ticket only stands up once baggage and food are priced back in.
