AirAsia took up to 20% off its international fares out of Japan from 13 July to 23:59 on 19 July 2026. Five Japanese airports were eligible — Narita, Kansai, New Chitose, Fukuoka and Naha — the cheapest fare was Fukuoka to Manila at JPY 18,900 one way, and the travel window ran nearly a year, to 30 June 2027.
Five airports at up to 20% off, for travel through to 30 June 2027
One way, taxes and airport charges included, payment fee extra. Fares moved with availability.
A sale described by its percentage hides how unevenly it lands. Fukuoka to Manila came in at JPY 18,900 while New Chitose to Bangkok, also Southeast Asia, cost JPY 28,900: ten thousand yen of distance showing through the discount. Twenty per cent was the ceiling rather than the rule, and particular flights and dates were excluded, with weekends and peak weeks the usual casualties.
An LCC fare does not by itself carry your belongings. Checked baggage, the meal and seat selection are each charged separately, and in this round the Value Pack that bundles them came down by up to 30%. Take the 20% off the fare and then buy the options at list price and most of the saving goes back over the counter. Booking ran through the AirAsia site or the AirAsia MOVE app; routed through a third-party comparison site, the discount sometimes failed to attach at all.
Refunds for a change of mind are not available. A travel window of nearly a year invites you to hold a seat and decide later, which is exactly the wrong instinct here: if the dates can still move, the cheaper course is not to buy.

Bangkok was JPY 2,000 cheaper from Kansai, and JPY 6,000 dearer from Sapporo
The same Suvarnabhumi flight had three different floors depending on where you left from: JPY 22,900 from Kansai, JPY 24,900 from Narita, JPY 28,900 from New Chitose. Kansai undercut Narita by JPY 2,000, and New Chitose sat JPY 4,000 above Narita and JPY 6,000 above Kansai.
Add the cost of reaching Kansai from Tokyo or Sapporo and that gap disappears immediately. Chasing a JPY 2,000 difference with a JPY 14,000 shinkansen ticket leaves you worse off than where you started. The departure city that genuinely changed the answer was Fukuoka: nothing out of Narita went below JPY 18,900 on any Southeast Asian route, so only a traveller flying from Kyushu could reach the floor of this sale.
