Air Macau sold Narita and Kansai to Macau from JPY 8,000 one way and JPY 15,000 return. Booking closed on 9 September 2026, and travel was limited to selected dates between 23 September and 12 October, with a stay of 2 to 14 days.

Two one-way tickets cost JPY 1,000 more than the return, and the travel period breaks between 4 and 7 October

Narita and Kansai were priced identically, so the choice between them came down to what it costs to reach the airport rather than anything on the fare page. Where the pricing was not neutral was one way against return: two JPY 8,000 tickets make JPY 16,000, while the return fare was JPY 15,000, so anyone intending to buy the legs separately was JPY 1,000 better off searching for a return first. A further 15% was set for international connecting fares, and the official fare table listed seat availability as “No Limited”, with the same sale running out of Korea, Singapore and Bangkok.

The part that misleads is the travel period, which the airline published as two blocks rather than one: 23 September to 3 October, then 8 October onward. Sunday 4 October to Wednesday 7 October are simply not in it. Reading the fare calendar date by date shows what that means in money.

JPY 8,000 appeared on 11 dates out of Narita and 12 out of Kansai. On the excluded days the fare reverts to JPY 41,600–67,000, and 8 and 9 October — dates the airline does count inside the travel period — never showed JPY 8,000 on either route. Read “23 September to 12 October” as a 20-day block and you would be planning around roughly twice the dates that actually existed; a little over half of it was real.

The JPY 8,000 is also the fare line alone. The official table says as much — the published amounts are reference prices excluding taxes and the fuel surcharge — and the total is not settled until the booking screen. For scale in the same region: when HK Express ran a JPY 3,000 one-way sale in August 2026, the fuel surcharge by itself added JPY 14,300 each way. Departures from Japan carry the international tourist tax of JPY 3,000 per person for travel from 1 July 2026 as well. The cheaper the fare line, the larger the share taxes and surcharges take of what you pay, which is why the number to compare between carriers is the one immediately before payment, as LCC cheap flight booking techniques sets out. The rest of the trip starts with what a night on Cotai or the peninsula costs.

Who it’s forTravellers who can fit the trip inside 23 September to 3 October, the eleven days where both Narita and Kansai held JPY 8,000. It suits nobody with fixed dates: the stay has to run 2 to 14 days, which excludes both a day trip and anything past a fortnight, and the hole from 4 to 7 October sits exactly where a long weekend itinerary would want to be.
Already booked?Check which date your booking falls on rather than trusting the stated period. 8 and 9 October are inside it and were never priced at JPY 8,000 — JPY 26,700 and JPY 41,600 from Narita, JPY 34,500 and JPY 25,400 from Kansai. One thing that works in an English reader’s favour here: the announcement was published in English and Chinese, and never appeared in the offers section of the Japanese-language site, so the conditions were easier to check from this side than from that one.
Compared with past salesOn the fare line alone, JPY 8,000 is dearer than HK Express’s JPY 3,000 in August for the same part of the world. That ranking does not survive contact with the totals, because a JPY 14,300 surcharge lands on the cheaper fare and the gap closes or inverts. Comparing advertised fares across carriers produces an order that the payment screen does not keep. How often each carrier runs a round is lined up in Sale Coverage by Airline.
