Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda opened on 6 September 2024 in the North Tower of Grand Green Osaka, the second phase of the Umekita redevelopment, and it was the first Canopy in Japan. Of its 308 rooms, 53 are suites. On Ikyu.com, a room-only booking for one room and two guests came to JPY 37,306 including tax for a stay of 20 January 2027, and JPY 96,806 for 21 October 2026 — both figures read on 14 September 2026.

Every standard room is 32 square metres, and the same room-only booking runs from JPY 37,000 to JPY 97,000
Guest rooms occupy floors 13 to 25, and the five standard categories — Canopy Room, Premium Room, Canopy View Room, Premium View Room and the accessible room — are all 32 m² for two people. Floor area is not what separates them. The bathroom is. The Canopy rooms have a shower, a lavatory and a basin and no bathtub; the Premium rooms have the tub. The two view categories face Umekita Park and the city beyond it. Above the standards the plan changes shape: the Canopy Corner Suite takes the corner of each floor at 63 m² and there are 51 of them, the Canopy Osaka Suite adds a kitchenette at 95 m², and the Canopy Panorama View Suite tops the list at 127 m². The hotel occupies the ground floor and floors 10 to 25 of the tower.
The design draws on two local things rather than a general idea of Osaka: the sennari-byotan, the cluster of gourds Toyotomi Hideyoshi carried as his battle standard, and the metasequoia trees of Umekita Park. Two colours run through the rooms, called River Blue and Umekita Green. Every room holds a minibar built to look like a retro refrigerator, a Fukusuke doll, a television of 55 inches or more and a Nespresso machine, with amenities by the Melbourne brand Thankyou. The suites carry artwork worked up from a map of Osaka drawn around 1600, interiors that quote the National Treasure teahouse Tai-an and the Hoko Sodesuri pine, and papier-mâché objects of a tiger and a pufferfish.
Three places serve food and drink, and two of them are on the eleventh floor rather than the ground floor. CC:CARBON COPY is the all-day dining room: dishes from around the world built out of Osaka ingredients and sent out on small plates, in a space that quotes the arcade of Kuromon Market and the rice sacks of the Dojima rice exchange. It seats 81, fourteen of those in a private room. From 1 August 2026 it serves breakfast 06:30–10:30, lunch 11:30–15:30 (last orders 14:00) and dinner 17:30–21:30 (last orders 20:00), with dinner dark on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Breakfast is JPY 4,500 for anyone 13 or over and JPY 2,250 for ages 6 to 12; lunch sets start at JPY 5,800 and dinner sets at JPY 7,800, tax and service charge on top. !JaJa!Bar, on the same floor, seats 126 across 80 indoor places and 46 on the terrace, and puts Kansai craft beer and wine next to takoyaki and Tenten’s bite-sized gyoza. It opens 14:00–23:00 Monday to Friday and 12:00–23:00 at weekends; on Friday and Saturday a half-hour live set starts at 20:00, 21:00 and 22:00, and a music charge of JPY 1,600 including tax applies from 20:00 to 22:30. On the ground floor, Bean there, UMEDA faces the park, opens 10:00–19:00 (last orders 18:30) and seats 74, twenty of them on a terrace where dogs are welcome.
The rest of the building: a fitness centre on the twelfth floor open around the clock, the Canopy Retail Wall and three meeting rooms with a foyer on the eleventh, and rental bicycles under the name Canopy Bike. Parking is in the first basement, nineteen spaces, a height limit of 2.1 metres and JPY 5,500 a night for guests. Umekita Onsen Hasu Wellbeing Park is a partner facility open to guests of the hotel, and a restaurant time sale of up to 30% has been running since the second anniversary on 6 September 2026. For the wider journey, the hotel’s own access page counts about 30 minutes from Kyoto Station to Osaka Station, about 25 from Kobe, about an hour from Wakayama, and about two and a half hours from Tokyo to Shin-Osaka plus one stop of five minutes.
